Montgomery Bell Academy Winter Camps Details   December 17th-23rd, 2011

3-sport Camp

Open to boys in grades 1-6.

Day 1: December 19, noon - 2:30 pm
Day 2: December 20, noon - 2:30 pm

Cost: $35 for one day, $70 for both

All-Sports Camp

Basketball (Coed)

MBA's basketball camps operate under the mantra, “Fundamentals and Fun." Through instruction from the MBA coaches Kevin Anglin (former Vanderbilt star) and Ronnie McMahan (2nd leading scorer in Vanderbilt history) and players, campers are exposed on a daily basis to the offensive and defensive fundamentals of the game. In addition, players play games and also participate in a number of contests and competitions. The result is an educational and enjoyable experience for the campers. Open to boys and girls in grades 1-6.

Day 2: December 20, 9am - 11:30am

Dodgeball (Coed)

All campers will play various formats of dodgeball: regular elimination style, medic style with rebirth, and tournament style with round robin format. Coach "Patches" O' Woolsey will stress the 5 D's of dodgeball: dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge in a fun and exhilarating camp experience. Open to boys and girls in grades 2-6.

Day 1: December 17, 12:30pm - 2:30pm (Boys only)
Day 2: December 23, 9am - 11:00am (Coed)

Driver's Education (Coed)

This course consists of 30 hours of classroom and 6 hours behind-the-wheel. The classroom portion will be held on the MBA campus. The behind-the-wheel training is completed in three 2 hour sessions after the four day classroom is completed. We pick up at home or school for the in-car training and return them at the end of the lesson.  Students should come to class knowing their calendar so they can choose their driving times. If you must cancel an in-car driving lesson, please provide at least 48 hours notice. If less than 48 hours notice is provided, there will be a $25 charge to reschedule a new lesson. Driving lessons must be completed within 60 days of your last classroom date. When you take this course you may test for a learners permit or drivers license with us rather than testing at the State Driver Testing Center. (Click here for Permit/Testing Information)

Class will run December 19th - 22nd (Mon. - Thurs.) from 8:30 to 4:30.

Quarterback Camp (Boys only)

Rifle (Coed) SOLD OUT

The Rifle Camp will be held in MBA's brand new shooting range. Safety is our foremost concern at Rifle Camp. During the camp, we will teach three Olympic-style competition positions, match rules, and etiquette. The five day MBA Winter Rifle Camp is designed for the elementary school age children interested in learning about the sport of competition position shooting.  The camp provides basic instruction and practice in the following areas:

        Safe Rifle Handling
        Range Safety
        Four Position Competition
        Shooting Mechanics in the following positions:
                Prone
                Kneeling
                Standing
                Kneeling
        
The program will include ample opportunity for practice and will culminate on day five with a camp match afterwhich medals will be awarded to the top three finishers.  Coed ages 10-15.

Have fun and learn the skills you need to get to the next level in a safe & relaxed environment. Camps are hosted by MBA coach Giles Cheevers, former pro player & head coach with Waterford United (premier division) in Ireland. Open to boys and girls in grades 1 - 6.
