NASHVILLE SPORTS COUNCIL RECOGNIZED BY THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SPORTS COMMISSIONS
2009-04-30
NASHVILLE, Tenn., (April 30, 2009) - The National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) honored the Nashville Sports Council during its annual meeting in Denver this past week for Outstanding Communication/Advertising for its 2014 NCAA Women’s Final Four bid package. The 2008 calendar year award was presented during the organization’s annual awards luncheon.
"We are thrilled to be recognized by our peer cities with this project," said Jim Murphy, chairman. “The NCAA Women’s Final Four bid was creatively produced to highlight Music City’s brand and differentiate ourselves from the competition.
Nashville based marketing firm, White Thompson LLC, developed the strategy and creative direction for the bid package. Evette White served on the NCAA Women’s Final Four Local Organizing Committee. "The bid package that was created was a comprehensive team effort led by many volunteers and ultimately Vice Mayor Neighbors and Margaret Behm as co-chairs," said Evette White. "The challenge of the project was to meet the demand of the necessary information required in the bid while carrying our marketing theme and key brand messaging throughout the package. Together with the NSC staff, we met that challenge for a successful bid."
In addition, Gary Alexander, senior vice president and coo of the Nashville Sports Council, was named to the NASC Executive Committee and will serve as its secretary. “I look forward to helping direct the future of the NASC and representing Nashville as a member of its executive committee,” said Gary Alexander. “The NASC has a long-standing tradition of being a great membership organization for sports commissions nation-wide.” The NASC is comprised of 350 members representing more than 300 cities nationally.
