Nashville, TN. August 26, 2008 – Representatives at 104.5 The Zone, Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC (BFNT) and the Nashville Sports Council announced today the launch of a new weekly radio segment to focus on the business side of sports.

This new twenty minute segment, “Sports Business Report presented by Bridgestone and Nashville Sports Council,” will air on 104.5 The Zone each Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m. for the next 52 weeks and will be hosted by morning host Mark Howard.  The inaugural segment will air this Wednesday, August 27.

This segment allows us to tap into an area that we do not normally have the time to get into, which will allow us to take listeners to the inner workings of how our area sports teams and even national entities operate from a business and marketing perspective,” said Mark Howard, host of 104.5 The Zone’s Wake Up Zone.

Featured guests on the segment will include representatives from professional sports teams and leagues, collegiate conferences and universities, Olympic national governing bodies, bowl game officials and media representatives.

“Bridgestone Firestone is excited to be partnering with the Nashville Sports Council and 104.5 The Zone to present the Sports Business Segment,” said Phil Pacsi, Vice President Consumer Marketing for BFNT.  “Our involvement with the NFL, NHL, PGA TOUR and Indy Racing league on a national level, and our support of local sports initiatives with the Titans, Predators, Music City Bowl and the Nashville Sports Council, makes our sponsorship of the Sports Business Segment a natural fit.  We’re looking forward to working with 104.5 The Zone and the Sports Council to bring a new concept in sports radio to the Nashville Community.”

“This is a great opportunity for the Sports Council to partner with two of our important local strategic partners,” said Scott Ramsey, President and CEO of the Nashville Sports Council.  “We feel a regular conversation regarding the behind-the-scenes workings of recruiting, managing and staging sporting events will be entertaining and interesting for our local sports fans.”

The Nashville Sports Council is a private, non-profit, membership-based organization of area corporations and individual sports enthusiasts.  Created in 1992, the Nashville Sports Council’s mission is to positively impact the economy and quality of life of the Greater Nashville Area by attracting and promoting professional and amateur sporting events.  The Nashville Sports Council has hosted more than 120 events that have produced more than $340 million in direct economic impact and is The Driving Force of Sports in Nashville.  For more information, call 615.743.3120 or visit NashvilleSports.com.
