10th Annual O'Charley's Dinner of Champions to be Televised for the First Time in Event History

Nashville, Tenn., February 28, 2008- Representatives at the Nashville Sports Council, Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS) and Comcast Spotlight announced today that the 10th Annual O’Charley’s Dinner of Champions will be televised for the first time in the event’s history on CSS thanks to a new partnership forged between the three entities.
            The O’Charley’s Dinner of Champions is Nashville’s premier sports award show honoring outstanding achievements in high school, collegiate and professional sports by Middle Tennessee individuals, teams and organizations. This year’s event will take place on Wednesday, March 12 at Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. The event will be televised regionally on CSS (locally on Comcast cable channel 27) on Monday, March 24 at 9:00 p.m. CST.
            “This is very exciting for us as an organization,” said Scott Ramsey, Sports Council President and CEO. “The fact that we are able to showcase the outstanding athletic achievements of our Middle Tennessee athletes and teams to millions of viewers across the southeast is a milestone in this event’s ten year history.”

            The 10th Annual O’Charley’s Dinner of Champions will present awards in the following categories based on achievement from the 2007 calendar year: Sports Person of the Year, Amateur Athletics, High School Athletics, High School Team Athletics, Fred Russell Lifetime Achievement, Community Spirit, Volunteer of the Year, Kaia Jergenson Courage and the inaugural Sergeant York Trophy. The Top 10 Sports Moments of the Year will also be unveiled.
            Additionally, one male and one female Middle Tennessee High School student-athlete will receive $2,500 scholarships for their outstanding academic and athletic achievements.

            Past O’Charley’s Dinner of Champions award winners include Steve McNair, Vince Gill, Darrell Waltrip, Vince Young, Jeff Fisher, Fred Russell, Chantelle Anderson, Jay Cutler and many more.
