Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl Sold Out!

2007-12-17

NASHVILLE, Tenn., (Dec. 3, 2007) – Representatives of the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl announced today the 2007 Bowl featuring the Kentucky Wildcats and Florida State Seminoles sold out in less than 24 hours, marking the second consecutive year the Bowl has sold out.  This marks the third sold out game in the Bowl’s ten-year history.

The first sellout was in 1998 with the University of Alabama and Virginia Tech University held at Vanderbilt University. The second sellout followed in 2006 with the Kentucky Wildcats and Clemson Tigers at LP Field.

Scott Ramsey, president and CEO of the Bowl, is thrilled with the third sellout.

“The excitement surrounding this year’s sold out Bowl game is unparalleled,” said Ramsey. “The Bowl truly has become Nashville’s Holiday Tradition and we are happy to see such strong participation and excitement from the local community, as well as the Kentucky and Florida State fans. In only the second year of our SEC-ACC partnership, two consecutive sellouts certainly indicate that this partnership is a great fit for Music City.”

The Bowl enters its tenth year and matches teams from the SEC and the ACC. The 2006 Bowl between Clemson and Kentucky had the seventh highest attendance out of all 32 bowl games, with only one non-Bowl Championship Series (BCS) game having more fans in attendance. The 2006 Bowl marked the first sellout in the Bowl’s history at LP Field and averaged more than 2.6 million total viewers on ESPN. It also generated a record $20.7 million economic impact on the local economy and over 51,000 out-of-town visitors traveled to Nashville.
