Nashville Sports Council Foundation Scholarship
Eligible Candidates: High School senior male and
female students in the Nashville MSA that have excelled athletically, academically,
and are active in community service.
The Award: 2007 is the ninth year for the Nashville
Sports Council Foundation Scholarship Award. This award, sponsored by the Nashville
Sports Council Foundation and administered by the Nashville Sports Council
Charities Committee, was created to highlight the importance of individual
achievement in the athletic arena, in the classroom and in the community. A
scholarship award of $2,500 and an attractive commemorative award will be presented
to one male and one female student at the 10th Annual O'Charley's Dinner
of Champions. The monetary award will be provided to the colleges
selected by the award winners.
Criteria for Selection:
- Athletic Achievement: The student must have excelled
in a minimum of one sport at their respective school.
- Academic Achievement: The student must be a high
school senior with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Community Involvement: The student must be actively
involved in volunteering with community service organizations. Participation
in extra curricular school activities will also be considered.
- Post High School Education: The student must
plan to attend an accredited college.
Nominations: Nominations must come from the Principal,
Guidance Counselor and/or Athletic Director of the school the nominated student
attends.
