Under his direction, the Nashville Sports Council (2003 National Sports Commission of the Year) has developed one of the largest and most comprehensive membership programs for sports commissions. Herrell has worked on more than eighty major sporting events that have yielded nearly $300 million in direct economic impact. In addition, he was involved with the NFL relocation (Tennessee Titans) and an NHL expansion bid (Nashville Predators). Furthermore, he also served on the team to create Nashville’s post-season collegiate Bowl game, the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl that features a Southeastern Conference (SEC) and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) match-up. Herrell served on the NFL relocation advance team for Nashville’s effort to relocate the Houston Oilers to Nashville and transition to Tennessee’s NFL football franchise, the Tennessee Titans. Tennessee NFL Football (TENNFL) was the sports marketing affiliate organization charged with the marketing, Permanent Seat License™ sales, operations, and public/government relations activities for the $292 million relocation deal that included the creation of Nashville’s downtown stadium, LP Field. A native St. Louisan and graduate of the University of Missouri, he earned a BA in Communication and Marketing. Herrell currently serves on the Football Bowl Association Marketing and Public Relations Committee. Furthermore, he is a past president of the Middle Tennessee Chapter of the American Marketing Association, serves on the Executive Committee for THE DISTRICT, serves on the Boys & Girls Club of Middle Tennessee Associate Board, and serves on the Middle Tennessee United Way’s Marketing Committee. In his spare time, he enjoys working on lowering his golf handicap and is an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He and his wife Connie reside in Nashville, Tennessee.
