The Nashville Sports Council held its Third Annual Golf Tournament. It was held at Gaylord Springs on Thursday, May 26, 2011. The tournament began shortly after 1:00 PM with a shotgun start, with play going on until shortly after 6:00 PM. The day was highlighted by two hole-in-one shots! See below for more details. Thanks to everyone who supported this years tournament, as it was another successful year of golf.
Overall, there were over 100 participants on 26 teams in the tournament. Here are the top score getters:
- 1st Place, 1st Flight: H&T Carpets (55)
- 2nd Place, 1st Flight: Vanderbilt University (56)
- 1st Place, 2nd Flight: Baker Donelson (65)
- 2nd Place, 2nd Flight: Purity Dairies (65)
Additionally, there were multiple winners for sponsored contests, including closest to the pin, longest drive, and a putting contest. There were even two Hole in One winners! The contest winners are:
- Hole in One: Emmett Webb on Hole 13; Tom Shaw on Hole 17
- Long Drive Contest: Steve Sullivan
- Putting Contest: Tyler Paslick
- Closest to the Pin: Trey Tarpley

Proceeds from the Annual Golf Tournament help the Nashville Sports Council achieve its mission - to positively impact the economy and quality of life in the Great Nashville Area by attracting and promoting professional and amateur sporting events. In addition, a portion of the proceeds from the Nashville Sports Council Golf Tournament help benefit the Nashville Sports Council's Good Sports Program. As the youth initiative of the NSC, the purpose of this program is to provide opportunities for Middle Tennessee’s young athletes. It focuses on developing important values such as education, volunteering, health and wellness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Good Sports Program also awards a scholarship every year to a deserving male and female high school athlete at our annual Pepsi Celebration of Champions presented by Kroger.
We are already looking ahead to the 4th Annual Nashville Sports Council Golf Tournament, and here is how you can get involved. The tournament, probably to be held in May of 2012 but still to be determined, supports involvement by both individuals and corporations! Corporate Members of the Nashville Sports Council have the opportunity to compete in our Corporate Challenge for the chance to win exclusive prizes and gain recognition at an upcoming NSC event.
